A new website has launched that tears apart John McCain’s “straight talking” image. One of the most devastating videos on McCain, put out by Brave New Films, can be viewed directly here. It is as damaging as any of the swift boat ads that were put out to take apart Kerry.
If anyone out there still thinks that McCain is anything more than a politician who has been well treated by a media that has bought into his homespun “maverick” attitude I suggest you look at the 2 minute 50 second video linked to above. My personal favorite in the clip is the flip-flop that occurs in a matter of minutes. It is truly an amazing sight.
There is no passage of time to seriously rethink the position, no events or extra information that lead to a change of heart, just a quick reevaluation of a stance to try and get your vote. If pandering were an art form McCain might well be declared King.
No other politician, save Lieberman, has managed to change his mind so much and in so many ways while still being heralded as a “maverick” and a “straight talker” that states what is on his mind without a political agenda. If Reagan was the “Great Communicator,” John McCain, and his only competition in eschewing politics to be his “own man”, Joe Lieberman, might as well be dubbed the “Great Deceivers.”
McCain and Lieberman are the only two politicians in Washington that have managed to turn pandering to voters on a minute by minute basis into an image of selfless heroism and patriotism and it is more than past time that they were called on it. If either one of them truly cares about the voters and the people of this country, they will make choices and form genuine stances that will alienate voters.
Part of having principles is standing by them in the face of criticism and rejection and that’s something both of them have been more than adept at avoiding.
